Whats a fuel evaporation control valve?

ok my check engine light turned on and so i took my bmw to get it diagnosed and it turns out its this fuel evaporation purge control valve? can someone explain this to me in plain simple english? thanx in advanceWhats a fuel evaporation control valve?
A small solenoid that allows gas vapors to be purged from the charcoal canister in to the engine. If you want simpler, It's busted, get it fixed.Whats a fuel evaporation control valve?
All cars have a canister on a hose attached to the gas tank to capture the fumes as the gas sloshes around. This canister is purged every once in a while and that is what the valve controls. It's an emissions issue. It might cause a pressure test fail if you have to get it smog tested depending if the valve is stuck open of closed. Drive on
