How do you replace idle control valve on 86 bmw 528e?

First check the vacuum hoses for leaks.

The idle control valve is beside the intake manifold.U can replace yourself, but can u adjust it.?

To make it easier, just go to a qualified mechanic and get it changed and adjusted within minutes. How do you replace idle control valve on 86 bmw 528e?
One end is in intake boot, the other end is a cable connector, and the center is wrapped around the mounting bracket. Steps are:

1) you remove electric connector

2) pry on bottom of the mounting bracket to open the mounting point

3) slide the valve out of the intake

installation is reverse. You can sometimes clean this with carb cleaner to get it running again. I had to replace mine, and it wasn't a cheap part. (I think I paid around $100, made by Bosch)
